The company relies entirely on production in Europe.
With the move into its new company building in Eppertshausen near Frankfurt am Main, the family-run company Jacobs GmbH has clearly demonstrated its commitment to environmental and sustainability issues. This is naturally also reflected in its leather collection.
At Jacobs GmbH in Eppertshausen – located in the heart of the Rhine/Main metropolitan region – sustainability is a top priority. As a traditional family business, they act in harmony with people, animals, and the environment. This begins with the raw materials: The hides come exclusively from developed economies. The entire production takes place in Europe – almost exclusively in Italy. The latest tanning and finishing methods are paramount to conserve resources and protect the environment. Continuous on-site monitoring ensures a consistently controlled production process with regard to working methods and pollutants.
All leathers from Jacobs GmbH's product range naturally comply with the latest international standards such as REACH and PROP 65 and are regularly tested according to international customer requirements. For example, the company also adheres to the CADS limits, which are significantly below the legal maximum.
Following the company's move to Eppertshausen, the new headquarters set new standards from an ecological perspective. The entire building is heated by an innovative wood pellet heating system. All lighting is provided by energy-saving LEDs controlled by motion detectors and light sensors. In addition, windows with high K values save around 18,000 tons of carbon dioxide annually compared to a comparable new building. The green roof and the natural grassland as a compensatory area complete the approach.
Jacobs GmbH offers a wide range of products, especially for customers who value flawless, clean leather: leather with resource-optimized mineral tanning (Chromium III) according to the latest CADS standard, chrome-free tanned leather (FOC), vegetable-tanned leather (VEG), and metal-free leather (FOM). Recycled products, such as natural and finished bonded leather, round out the range.
